For the opening show of the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Baku, our aim was to present Azerbaijan's centuries-long culture and history in an unexpected and fascinating way. The remarkable Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre, built by architect Zaha Hadid, was chosen as the venue. World-famous composer and performer Sami Yusuf together with the best folklore musicians of Azerbaijan created an epic musical soundtrack to the libretto telling the story of Azerbaijan's rich artistic and cultural heritage.
