The grand theatre show "Poem of the Eternal City", created for the Silk Road tourist complex in Samarkand opening, was a unique project in many respects. An international team of top-level specialists worked on the project. This large-scale performance, which does not fit into the strict framework of genre definitions, united classical ballet dancers and national dance traditions, symphony orchestra and folklore ensemble. Fully original musical material rooted in the rich folklore tradition of the region was created especially for the show. Much of the music was written by one of the leading contemporary composers in the field of oriental music, international superstar Sami Yusuf.
